Field Service Engineer provides on-site support and technical assistance with various products or equipment. Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains products/equipment. Being a Field Service Engineer identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures. Orders and replaces parts as needed. Additionally, Field Service Engineer develops detailed service reports to document service visits, issues, and troubleshooting actions and logs and tracks maintenance activities. Answers basic customer questions about product features. May provide some customer training. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Field Service Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. This position will require driving to different customer sites, typically within a 100-mile range, for assigned service calls. When participating in the on-call rotation, our field service technicians may have to drive to any one of these locations at any time of the day or night. You will use your own vehicle and be reimbursed for travel expenses. Additionally, you will be expected to participate in periodic training and at times travel out of state.
Here’s What This Position Is All About- Maintain and repair data center hardware equipment (primarily mid to high-end servers and other storage devices) of assigned accounts
- Understand and deliver on response time, follow up, and resolution commitments to customers and teammates in order to build trust and ensure loyalty
- Engage Purchasing department for parts inventory, Technical Support partners for escalation process, and local Sales team to help exceed customer expectations
- Complete ongoing training in order to develop and/or maintain technical acumen
- Strong troubleshooting skills with at least a basic knowledge of computer hardware
- On-call availability for 24x7 customer needs as part of a scheduled rotation throughout the service team
- General field service experience preferred but not required
