Field Service Engineer provides on-site support and technical assistance with various products or equipment. Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains products/equipment. Being a Field Service Engineer identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures. Orders and replaces parts as needed. Additionally, Field Service Engineer develops detailed service reports to document service visits, issues, and troubleshooting actions and logs and tracks maintenance activities. Answers basic customer questions about product features. May provide some customer training. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Description
· Support complex technical support for industrial controls installation, commissioning, testing, repairs, and modifications.
· Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues requiring research and a high degree of creativity.
· Complete appropriate written documentation and feedback for onsite service and installation.
· Exhibit mature, independent judgment and communicate effectively.
· Install and replace instruments in process systems, using hand tools and established procedures
· Test flowmeters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, and other recordings, indicating, or controlling equipment to locate defective components in a system, using test equipment
· Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems. Be able to red line drawings based on field installation.
· Perform on-site commissioning and startup of complex industrial control systems.
· Support in-house development of industrial robots and machine vision
Requirements
· Technical training or education in the instrumentation or mechatronics fields
· Technically oriented and mechanically inclined.
· Possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License
· Authorization to work lawfully in the U.S. without sponsorship
· Ability to lift 30 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, pull, lift, squat, reach and bend.
· Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
Skills and Knowledge:
· Possess strong mechanical aptitude including working with tools.
· Ability to troubleshoot industrial control (PLCs, HMIs & VFDs) and electromechanical systems
· Working independently and able to re-prioritization tasks/events/commitments quickly based on contract, customer, and business situations.
· Experience with electrical circuit diagnosis and meter usage for 24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC
· Automation system diagnosis and troubleshooting. Must be able to go online with a laptop to a PLC, HMI, or VFD. Understand ladder logic.
· Familiarity with motor control equipment including VFDs
· Familiarity with Rockwell PLCs is preferred and Industrial Robots is a plus
· Knowledge of safety procedures related to electrical work as well as basic construction safety.
