St. Martin's-in-the-Field Episcopal School is an accredited, co-educational independent day school in Severna Park, MD, enrolling 250 - 260 students (Preschool-8th). St. Martin's is seeking an experienced Learning Specialist to serve alongside teachers in grades K-8. Our Learning Support Specialist provides support in ways that include the following:
To students:
Students in grades K - 8 may receive, in-class assistance, small-group instruction, and individual meetings. Students may receive early literacy intervention, executive function remediation and accommodation, and guidance regarding self-advocacy.
To families:
Families may receive assistance with outside evaluations and implementation of suggested strategies. The Learning Specialist may also support family communication in support of off-campus practitioners' assessment procedures.
To faculty/staff:
The Learning Specialist works with teachers to identify students requiring additional educational evaluations and assessments, create learning plans based on those evaluations, and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure consistent support in line with learning plans. The Learning Specialist attends meetings of teaching teams to ensure appropriate communication. The Learning Specialist serves on the School's Care Team, along with Division Coordinators, Counselor, Chaplain. The Learning Specialist serves on the Admissions Committee and supports the School's Director of Admissions during the candidate assessment process.
The ideal candidate will be: experienced teaching the age group, positive and professional, detail-oriented, and highly organized. Candidates should possess a minimum of two years of experience in a school setting, preferably in an independent school.
