Field and Biomedical Engineering Site Superintendent

    This dynamic leadership position is directly responsible for overseeing the operations of both general construction sites and specialized biomedical engineering projects, from planning to completion. The Field and Biomedical Engineering Supervisor is accountable for daily scheduling, supervising all activities and tasks, and ensuring the safety and compliance of both construction and biomedical engineering sites. They manage and supervise construction activities within established design, budget, and scheduling guidelines, ensuring seamless integration of general field services and biomedical engineering operations.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Inspection of Contractor or (Sub) Contract operations in both general construction and biomedical engineering to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Maintain healthy relationships with internal and external clients, including representatives of healthcare facilities.
    • Develop and maintain site logistics plans for both general construction and biomedical engineering projects, in coordination with Project Managers.
    • Conduct quality safety inspections specific to both construction and biomedical engineering standards.
    • Take on the role of Site Safety Supervisor while on both construction and biomedical engineering projects.
    • Coordinate testing and inspection efforts related to both construction and biomedical engineering activities.
    • Monitor costs, including labor time and material, specific to both construction and biomedical engineering projects.
    • Manage employees’ schedules within the context of both construction and biomedical engineering operations.
    • Prepare and submit Daily Reports for both construction and biomedical engineering projects.
    • Attend and participate in all project meetings, including subcontractor meetings in both construction and biomedical engineering fields.
    • Conduct weekly safety meetings (Toolbox Talks) with a focus on safety standards in both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • Performs other related duties, as assigned, considering the diverse requirements of both construction and biomedical engineering projects.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Community College, Trade School, or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field preferred.
    • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a supervisory role in both general construction and biomedical engineering or related fields.
    • Ten (10) years of industry experience in both general construction and biomedical engineering projects.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Familiarity with Pro-core or other types of construction software programs, desirable in the context of both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • Experience working with healthcare facilities, specifically in biomedical engineering projects.
    • General Contractor (GC) License and Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification preferred in both construction and biomedical engineering fields.
    • Prior military experience preferred.
    • Familiarity with requirements of drawings and specifications in both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • Small electronics theory preferred.
    • OSHA 30-hour certification specific to safety in both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • First Aid/CPR certification relevant to both construction and biomedical engineering situations.

    SKILLS

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills specific to both construction and biomedical engineering projects.
    • Good math/accounting skills relevant to cost monitoring in both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • Strong management skills (able to manage multiple crews on multiple projects) in both construction and biomedical engineering fields.
    • Strong ability to read drawings and specifications in the context of both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • Delegates work appropriately to Site Supervisors in both construction and biomedical engineering projects.
    • Strong decision-making/problem-solving skills in the context of both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills specific to both construction and biomedical engineering operations.
    • Must be a self-starter with electronics, tech, and computer skills relevant to both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • Skilled at troubleshooting in the context of both construction and biomedical engineering equipment.
    • Proficient at Microsoft products (Word, Excel) for documentation in both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to document data on detailed spreadsheets accurately in the context of both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and have strong decision-making skills in both construction and biomedical engineering projects.
    • Ability to maintain a professional appearance on job sites in both construction and biomedical engineering.
    • Ability to supervise multiple trades and maintain quality control of varied projects per plans and specifications provided in both construction and biomedical engineering contexts.

    ADA/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Work is medium to heavy demand in both construction and biomedical engineering fields. Must be able to move objects and equipment, using abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina in both construction and biomedical engineering. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands, fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects and equipment. Requires good visual acuity and hearing.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in diverse environments that include varying conditions, potential exposure to hazardous materials, and noise levels that may be loud at times in both construction and biomedical engineering contexts.
