Finance Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of finance professionals. Oversees the collection and analysis of financial information for an organization. Being a Finance Supervisor monitors the creation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensures financial information has been recorded accurately. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Finance Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Finance Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Finance Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Quantitative Analysis Intern (Finance)

    Sprague is looking for a Quantitative Analysis Intern (Quant. Finance Track) for Summer 2024. This position will support the Quant. Analysis and Portfolio Mgmt. team within Sprague’s Retail Natural Gas and Electricity BU in the areas of developing quantitative finance solutions and applications. We are seeking upbeat and energetic candidates with excellent communication and collaboration skills, who thrive on challenges and are excited about the idea of working in a high growth, fast-paced organization in the energy sector. The intern(s) will work with assigned supervisors / subject experts from the Quant. Analysis and Portfolio Mgmt. team and will interact with other members of the Retail Energy BU and other Sprague Energy teams as well as present project results and receive feedback from the management team.

    This position will be based out of our Portsmouth, NH office (Hybrid is an option).

    A successful intern candidate will apply and develop skills in various areas of quantitative finance analysis and applications (stochastic processes applied to pricing, hedging and optimization, Monte Carlo simulations, parameter estimations, modeling of volatility and correlations, model calibrations, model deployment), while supporting and learning from energy industry professionals in the areas of energy markets, retail natural gas and electricity products and services, data science, analytics, forecasting, modeling business and product risks, portfolio and asset optimization, risk management and economic analysis.

    The Intern will also learn about and contribute to building, cleaning, testing, and working with various databases, data processes and quantitative analysis models, tools, and applications. (on prem and cloud)

    Potential project areas:

    • Energy asset optimization, pricing, and hedging (storage, pipeline capacity, other assets modeling).
    • Assist in developing and deploying energy commodity prices simulation models and libraries.
    • Assist in developing and improving product risks hedging strategies on standalone and portfolio level.
    • Help improve models and estimates for exchange clearing margin account interest costs.
    • Help develop and improve ETRM systems’ quantitative analytics.
    • Support the Quantitative analysis team in various projects as required by the business.

    Qualified candidates for this role will have the following:

    • Education: Progressing towards a Master’s degree in Quantitative Finance, Financial Mathematics, Computational Finance, Mathematical Finance, or such recent graduates looking to start an Internship to learn and apply their skills in the Energy industry.
    • Candidates from other quantitative majors like Econometrics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Actuary Science, etc., with extensive advanced coursework in quantitative finance subjects like Stochastic Calculus, Hedging and Derivatives instruments, Monte Carlo simulations, Stochastic Optimization would also be considered.
    • Passionate for applying quantitative skills in a business environment to create and drive business and customers insights, decisions, actions and added value.
    • Advanced programming and model deployment skills in languages like R, Python, MATLAB,
    • Advanced data manipulation (SQL, Python, etc) and data modeling skills.
    • Some exposure to cloud computing, parallel computing, and machine learning applications in cloud environments like AWS will be a plus.
    • Ability to solve complex problems and conduct research as needed; see projects through to
