    It is the mission, duty and purpose of Higher Education Literacy Professionals (HELP), Inc. to increase access to higher education for underrepresented groups through workshops, classes, tutoring, and private coaching.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Individualized college admissions guidance for students and families enrolled in the College Edge Program.

    • Leading small-group workshops on the college admission process
    • Researching colleges to determine fit for students
    • Providing personal statement and writing supplement feedback
    • Assistance in researching eligible scholarships for students
    • Common App and other institution-specific application support
    • FAFSA and CSS guidance
    • Counseling family through the commitment process after financial award letters arrive
    • Contribute anecdotal and quantitative data for quarterly reports and funder proposals and reports
    • Maintain paper and electronic records of all participants and activities including data entry and database management
    • Distribute materials and information to college applicants including application forms, catalogs, financial aid forms and scholarship information, etc.
    • Attending regular staff meetings and program events (e.g. College Signing Day)
    • Chaperoning students on college tours
    • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma
    • Minimum of two (2) years of college
    • Superior public speaking and presentation skills
    • Ability to provide group facilitation
    • Thorough knowledge of all steps to college application process
    • Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds
    • Ability to work with students of a variety of academic backgrounds
    • Strong organizational, multitasking, and follow through skills
    • Self-motivated ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Flexible and positive team-oriented attitude
    • Computer knowledge including experience with Microsoft Office software packages, Google Drive, local area networks, and the internet
    • Must be able to work weekends

    Job Types: Part-time, Contract

    Pay: $30.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
