Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. manages and administers all aspects of student financial aid program. Oversees the critical flow of all grant, loan, and scholarship dollars to proper entities as required. Being a Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. instructs students and parents on the application for loans or scholarships. Has knowledge of available private, state, and federal financial aid programs. Additionally, Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior institutional officer. The Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the management and administration of the Office of Financial Aid and its functions, including but not limited to accounting operations, budget preparation, preparation of Federal, State and institutional reports, maintenance of Federal fund budgetary controls and regulatory compliance, and the delivery of funds and services to students. The College uses Ellucian Banner Student Information System to manage and award financial aid. The Director provides leadership and direction for the delivery and coordination of federal, state and institutional student financial aid programs; coordinates and oversees audits, compliance reviews and account reconciliations and ensures institutional compliance with relevant regulations and statutes. Additional responsibilities include: supervision of full-time staff; counseling students and parents; representing the College at community and system wide programs; participation in various internal and external committees. The Director also works closely with other campus personnel to support registration, enrollment management, and the recruitment and retention efforts of the campus. The position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management within the Division of Enrollment Management.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
This title is in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but instead receive renewable term appointments.
