Being a Financial Assistant (Public) prepares business reports, proposals, and presentations. Coordinates meetings and communications between all parties involved with transactions. Additionally, Financial Assistant (Public) verifies compliance with NASD and other regulations and completes all required filings for a deal. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will play a critical role in our Student Services Department by
administering student loan, work-study, as well as veteran and grant programs for students. The
Assistant Director of Financial Aid position must effectively work with the Director of Financial Aid to
administer financial aid programs in support of the mission and vision of CNCC to ensure access and
support progression and performance of our students. These responsibilities require strong interpersonal
skills, attention to detail and the ability to work with a diverse student population, as well as an aptitude
for administering financial aid programs to ensure compliance with all FERPA and Federal Title IV
regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Assist students with Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Explain the program in
detail to both parents and students during advising meetings as needed.
2. Will assist Veterans and be the second School Certifying Official (SCO) for CNCC in all Veteran
matters pertaining to Veteran’s Education Benefits for both the CNCC Rangely and CNCC Craig
Campuses. Duties will include, but not be limited to:
3. Coordinate, facilitate and host FAFSA nights at local area high schools.
4. Coordinate with the Admissions Office for campus visits with all prospective students.
5. Assist all students with Bank Mobile. Help students with questions about refunds and assist them to
set-up accounts as needed.
6. Each Semester, will be responsible for placing financial aid holds on student accounts to ensure
financial aid is released after census date.
7. Responsible for inputting all attributes for in-district funding (Moffat County Board, Rio Blanco
County Board and Western Undergraduate Exchange, etc.) to ensure all financial aid cost of
attendance are managed correctly.
8. Verify student FAFSA information for accuracy. Contact students if any additional information is
needed, and assist the student with completion of the FAFSA and verification paperwork.
9. Upload student documents into BANNER Document Management (BDM) System.
10. Responsible for the adjustment of student budgets to ensure financial aid is not over-awarded.
Process all FAFSA based student awards so each student can view their information in the CNCC
Crossroads portal. Send FAFSA award and missing information letters.
11. Will be responsible for verification of student loan requirements. This will include processing and
certification of direct student loans (Stafford Loans).
12. Complete monthly reconciliation of Pell Grants and direct loans if Director is unavailable.
13. Meet with third party vendors regularly to discuss best plans for student loan repayments for
students who are in default and/or delinquent on their student loans.
14. Responsible for assisting all students with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Financial Aid
appeals.
15. Will meet with all students who are interested in work-study opportunities, and discuss qualifications
with potential students.
16. Work with the Foundation Director and students for Foundation Scholarships
17. Perform weekly checks to help reduce the number of fraudulent applicants. Place holds as
appropriate.
