Financial Assistant (Public) provides assistance to the Public Financial Associates. Assists in the financing of taxable and tax-exempt bonds. Being a Financial Assistant (Public) prepares business reports, proposals, and presentations. Coordinates meetings and communications between all parties involved with transactions. Additionally, Financial Assistant (Public) verifies compliance with NASD and other regulations and completes all required filings for a deal. Familiar with underwriting policies, practices, and regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Financial Assistant (Public) works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     The Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking to hire several Assistant Public Defenders. The primary responsibilities include handling felonies and misdemeanors in Superior Court, as well as possible work in Recorder’s Court, Juvenile and Specialty Courts. It is preferred that applicants be a member of the Georgia State Bar, but the office is open to hiring a candidate under a provisional practice license while awaiting bar results.

    • The Assistant Public Defender will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients.
    • This position performs professional legal work and may assist in criminal cases of routine complexity.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
    • Preference for someone with excellent caseload management skills, the ability to work independently, minimum amount of trial experience, ability to handle arraignments and pretrial conferences, and ability to read and spot issues in discovery and file appropriate motions, if any.
    Must have completed Jurist Doctorate, passed the Georgia Bar, and be a member in Good Standing with the State Bar of Georgia. Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation. Limited same-day travel in the Circuit.

    The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

    • Balancing – maintain equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching.
    • Crouching – bending body forward by bending leg, spine.
    • Feeling – perceiving attributes of objects by touch with skin, fingertips.
    • Grasping – applying pressure to object with fingers, palm.
    • Handling – picking, holding, or working with whole hand.
    • Hearing 1 – perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, receive information.
    • Hearing 2 – receive detailed information, make discrimination in sound.
    • Kneeling – bending legs at knee to come to rest at knees.
    • Lifting – raising objects from lower to higher position, moving objects side to side, using upper extremities, back.
    • Manual Dexterity – picking, pinching, typing, working with fingers rather than hand.
    • Mental Acuity – ability to make rational decisions through sound logic, deductive reasoning.
    • Pulling - use upper extremities to exert force, haul or tug.
    • Pushing – use upper extremities to press against objects with force, or thrust forward, downward, outward.
    • Reaching – extending hands or arms in any direction.
    • Repetitive Motion – substantial movements of wrists, hands, fingers.
    • Speaking – expressing ideas with spoken word, convey detailed, important instructions accurately, concisely.
    • Standing – for sustained periods of time.
    • Stooping – bending body downward, forward at waist, with full motion of lower extremities and back.
    • Talking 1- expressing ideas by spoken word.
    • Talking 2 – shouting to be heard above ambient noise.
    • Visual Acuity 1 - prepare, analyze data, transcribing, computer terminal, extensive reading.
    • Visual Acuity 4 - operate motor vehicles/heavy equipment.
    • Walking - on foot to accomplish tasks, long distances, or site to site.

    The work is typically performed in an office or Courtroom.
