Family Stations is seeking a dynamic Public Affairs and Administrative Associate to be part of our team.

Reporting to the Family Radio Compliance Director, Jennifer Burkhiser, the Public Affairs and Administrative Associate will be responsible for supporting the Compliance Director and Compliance Team, as directed.

Full-time position – Monday thru Friday - located in our office in Shenandoah, IA.

Job purpose: To support the Compliance Director and Compliance Team, as directed, including to act as a quality and creative content filter for national Issues Programming for Family Stations, Inc. radio station(s) prior to distribution so that Family Radio Public Affairs Content reflects the mission of the organization, while meeting all regulatory guidelines, as directed.

• Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.
• Extensive knowledge of office administration, clerical procedures, and recordkeeping systems.
• Able to type a minimum of 50 words per minute.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quarterly, respond to certain national community needs that are of local importance that have been identified/document needs as assessed through local news sources & interviews.
• Set up interviews with community leaders & residents in determining what issues to respond to with programming in each local community across the Network.
• Prepare for weekly national public affairs radio program/podcast of varying lengths.
• Produce and write quarterly Issues/Programs Lists that detail the issues covered on public affairs “Community Bridge” programs.
• Act as liaison between program guests and organizations in internal and external communications, along with uploading content to multiple digital platforms, as directed.
• As appropriate, review generation of new, relevant, and engaging content for the FR audience; compliance within FCC requirements regarding response to local issues, needs, and interests to each community; and alignment with Family Radio Mission and Vision.
• Additional administrative duties as assigned.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Minimum four years of related experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds as required.
