Financial Reporting Director directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Director confirms that entries, transactions, and accounts are accurately and properly consolidated and are included in internal and external financial statements. Advises management of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommends best approach for any changes in reporting. Additionally, Financial Reporting Director may serve as a liaison with or oversee the work of external auditors. May direct the preparation of materials for board or shareholders. Requires a bachelor's degree of Accounting or Finance. Typically reports to top management. The Financial Reporting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Financial Reporting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.   • This position reports to Director Accounting and Financial Reporting and will be responsible for the timely and accurate reconciliation and filings of all regulatory and required accounting statements. The role is highly visible due to the financial interaction with the CFO and Business Leaders. This individual will ensure financial and administrative controls are in place for all accounting transactions. Oversee all Accounting processes including regulatory filings and reporting. This position requires a strong business acumen and analytical discipline. This cross functional role acts as a departmental subject matter expert (SME) and interacts with internal operational departments, budget managers, external clients and business partners.
    The Manager, Accounting role is a critical team member for the Controller organization. This individual will manage a team of 2 to 5 accountants at various levels to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting system.

    Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing

    • Responsible for oversight and completion of detailed financial statements and regulatory filings for a business segment.
    • Responsible for the timely completion and filing of NAIC statutory statements on a quarterly and annual basis for three or more regulated legal entities
    • Prepare financial reporting that will include, but not be limited to, analyses related to premiums, medical claims, capitation, risk sharing, reinsurance, benefits and riders, SSF, alternate risk, deductibles and coinsurance, benefits and riders, Rx premiums and claims, state surcharges, and administration costs
    • Manage a team of 2 to 5 Financial Accountants responsible for all general ledger accounting. Provide training and ongoing support to staff accountants as necessary. Prepare annual performance reviews including incorporating each individual in department goals.
    • Perform other responsibilities as required, including responding to internal and external audit requests, documenting policies and procedures, and assisting in departmental/projects as needed.

    Qualifications – what you need to perform the job

    EDUCATION: (Minimum education required)

    • BS in Finance or Accounting
    • CPA preferred

    EXPERIENCE: (Years of experience)

    • 5 to 7 years accounting experience with minimum 2 years supervisory experience
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and NAIC SSAP principles
    • Health Care insurance experience preferred.
