Financial Reporting Director directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Director confirms that entries, transactions, and accounts are accurately and properly consolidated and are included in internal and external financial statements. Advises management of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommends best approach for any changes in reporting. Additionally, Financial Reporting Director may serve as a liaison with or oversee the work of external auditors. May direct the preparation of materials for board or shareholders. Requires a bachelor's degree of Accounting or Finance. Typically reports to top management. The Financial Reporting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Financial Reporting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     The Director of Finance is responsible to provide the leadership and direction for the Finance Department and to ensure continuity and consistency across and throughout departments within the business unit. Ensures the delivery of quality, cost-effective health care services in line with the Billings Clinic mission, vision, values, and goals. Accountabilities include program/business development, quality of services, short and long range planning directly related to the business unit, to achieve goals and objectives, fiscal control and responsibility to manage revenue and costs, physician and interdepartmental and intradepartmental relations, and personnel management.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Develops and oversees business unit to ensure adherence to organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business objectives. Interprets and supports the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic. Responsible for the promotion of, and adherence to, the elements of Billings Clinic’s Code of Business Conduct and corporate compliance program as it relates to the business unit.
    • In collaboration with Senior Leadership, physician leadership, other medical staff, and other health care providers, leads, develops, and revises programs which enhance the business unit. Decisions specify the business unit and departmental priorities to be accomplished by the Manager and/or Supervisor/Coordinator and how resources will be allocated. Acts as a recognized area expert within Billings Clinic and to other health care providers regarding healthcare accounting and financial issues.
    • Leads Accounting and Decision Support teams in the overall marketing, program development, and service priorities that support a quality-focused environment and the financial objectives of the organization/business unit/department. Coordinates with Senior Leadership and physicians to assure continuity in pursuing business unit/system goals and synergy in implementing plans and problem resolution.
    • Oversees Managers, Supervisors/Coordinators, and other direct reports with preparation of business unit budget, staffing, objectives, standards, and staff education programs.
    • Assists in development of strong internal controls regarding financial processes at Billings Clinic. Acts as lead staff person for the Billings Clinic Audit Committee. Maintains primary responsibility for the preparation of audited financial statements and acts as the primary contact to the external audit firm with relationship to the annual audit.
    • Responsible for coordinating the annual Form 990 Tax Return.
    • Develops/maintains financial and budgetary goals/objectives and assists with the development of departmental business plans which support Billings Clinic goals and objectives. Communicates and coordinates corporate and administrative information for use by Billings Clinic leadership and governing bodies, including feasibilities, projections, and results reporting. Leads the operating and capital budgeting processes as well as the long range financial planning process and serves as a role model for the entire organization in financial stewardship. Participates in the monthly review of organizational financial statements and assists Senior Leadership with financial analysis at the departmental level.
    • Responsible for coordinating the preparation of monthly financial statements in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Ensures the success and credibility of Billings Clinic by assisting operational leadership by providing data and educating operating leadership on how best to understand the data which in turn assist the operational leadership in the delivery of innovative, quality, cost efficient programs. Assures the highest standard of quality data and customer satisfaction to all those who use data provided by the decision support department.
    • Practices process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of the service/care provided within business unit. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance for business unit and ensures business unit and staff compliance.
    • Develops, retains, recruits, and leads a talented management team committed to accomplishing the organizational/business unit goals, objectives and corporate compliance. Recommends, implements, and evaluates plans and systems that assures sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide care/services. Adheres to administrative policy/procedures relating to human resource management.
    • Demonstrates and encourages an ethic of open communication and teamwork throughout the organization. Builds an environment of shared commitment to Billings Clinic’s goals and responsibility to achieve quality outcomes.
    • Leads evaluation, selection, and integration of health care technology and information management systems within the business unit that supports quality of care/financial needs and
      the efficient use of resources.
    • Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education


    • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or other related field
    • Masters degree in accounting, finance or other related field, preferred


    Experience

    • Three (3) to five (5) years management/leadership and program management experience
    • Prior lean six sigma experience/certification, desirable

    Certifications and Licenses

    • Current Montana license as a Certified Public Accountant at hire
