Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for managing the preparation and distribution of periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Manager manages the financial reporting staff May work with external auditors to provide requested information. May assist with the preparation of materials for board or shareholders. Additionally, Financial Reporting Manager requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Typically reports to a director. The Financial Reporting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Our Financial Reporting team is responsible for preparing financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will build processes and train a fast-growing team that provides best in class customer service. We are looking for a strong systems thinker & people leader who is eager to be in a fast-paced, team-based environment and act as a player/coach. This role will involve a combination of direct customer-facing work, process creation and team leadership.
Prepare financial statements for our fund clients, including providing relevant support to clients and external auditors as needed
Create, build and improve our financial statement templates. Maintain and update a template library for use by all team members
Train and lead a team of financial reporting specialists
Collaborate with fund accounting to optimize processes and handoffs
Handle challenging customer situations and improve customer satisfaction
Review team deliverables for accuracy and ensure SLAs are being met
Build systems and process to ensure we are tracking important team and customer data
8-10 years of experience in fund accounting including experience in financial reporting; at least 1 year of people manager or team lead experience
Experience with GAAP is a must; IFRS is a plus
Located in Canada
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of integrity and desire to consistently do the right thing for our customers and for the business
Ability to be a self-starter: you identify problems and take ownership of finding and implementing solutions
Highly flexible and adaptable to change; ability to handle multiple projects at once while staying close to the details
