FIRE CAPTAIN manages a team of firefighters. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. Being a FIRE CAPTAIN directs training and conditioning activities. Administers the staff work schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Additionally, FIRE CAPTAIN leads and coordinates responses to fire events, hazardous material incidents, auto accidents, and search and rescue operations. Prepares post-incident reports as required. Leads or coordinates fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager.     JOB DESCRIPTION

    Position: Banquet Captain

    Department: Catering Sales Manager

    Purpose: To oversee the execution of banquet events, meeting and other functions, ensuring the best possible guest experience.

    The ability of our Host Associates to proficiently multi-task provides guests at Hay Creek properties a secure, comfortable confidence that their service expectations will be exceeded.

    Essential Functions:

    ¨ Attend weekly BEO meeting. Review floor plans, meal times, linen and setup requirements. Keep track of supply needs and inventory.

    ¨ Train banquet associates to follow property service and room set standards.

    ¨ Supervise banquet staff during events, enforcing service standards, SOPs, attendance, grooming and uniform standards. Assist department manager in coaching and counseling and progressive discipline as appropriate.

    ¨ Maintain cleanliness and organization in banquet rooms, serving and storage areas. Make sure that spaces are broken down and properly cleaned after each event.

    ¨ Conduct pre-event meetings before large banquets, meetings or events. Review BEOs with associates, assign tasks, review timelines and special needs.

    ¨ Guest Interaction: Act as guest liaison for each event supervised. Meet the group contact(s) and make your presence known. Be available to group contacts during each event, address issues or concerns.

    ¨ Event Supervision: Inspect room setups for accuracy, presentation and cleanliness. Make sure that timelines, food and beverage service times and other procedures are followed for each event. Complete a captain’s report for each event supervised.

    ¨ Loss Prevention: Uphold standards for reducing waste, reducing breakage and protecting property assets like furniture, chafers, walls and carpets.

    ¨ Review tally sheets at the conclusion of each event. Verify tally sheets and banquet drop sheets. Ensure that bars are attended at all times and that pours are correct. Enforce liquor laws and policies.

    ¨ Service: Act as server as needed, assist with setup as needed.

    Experience and Skills:

    Technology and Equipment:

    ¨ Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office products

    ¨ Basic A/V equipment knowledge including microphones, PAs, LCD projectors, conference phones

    Hotel Specific Essential Functions:

    ¨ Ability to stand for duration of 12 hours.

    ¨ Ability to lift 50 lbs.

    ¨ Ability to bend, lift and/or twist frequently.

    ¨ Ability to read, understand and speak English

    Working Environment:

    ¨ Interior with exposure to heavy machinery and on occasion, exterior with exposure to weather conditions.

    ¨ Hotel property with approximately 44 guest rooms

    ¨ Work will primarily take place in kitchen, function spaces, and on the inn's property

    ¨ Group and solo work

    ¨ Practice and observe all safety procedures

    ¨ Interior of hotel, in all areas with exposure to extreme temperatures.

    ¨ Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions.

    ¨ Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
