Fire Inspector jobs in Evansville, IN

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.     • Prepare and coordinate technical specifications for customer / dealer quotations, bids and orders in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Communicate consistently with customers and internal departments to clarify technical details regarding orders.
    • Review customer’s specifications to properly match the correct model and configure / create the specifications to be used for quotes.
    • Coordinate complete preparation of all technical documentation and pricing required for bids and proposals.
    • Key point of contact for account management, analysis of quote requests & contracts as well as overall evaluation of customer technical requirements.
    • Coordinate and host, in a professional demeanor, customer / dealer visits and product inspections, as needed.
    • Sufficient working knowledge of the technical configurations of various fire apparatus.
    • As required, this person may prepare forecasts, project charts, goals & objectives, in-house reports, and written & verbal correspondence to customers, distributors, and vendors.
    • Evening or weekend work with customers may be required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior Sale Experience
    • Experience in bid and proposal activities
    • Technical knowledge of fire fighting apparatus
    • The ability to communicate effectively, deal diplomatically with customers & dealers, work independently, prioritize and manage numurous projects and be innovative and creative
    • Strong computer skills required including Microsoft Word, Excel, Pages, Numbers and company software.
    • Travel is required.
