Job Summary

RD Offutt Farms Co. is seeking an accountant to lead the fixed assets accounting for R.D. Offutt Farms Co. The Fixed Asset Accountant will be responsible for transactions to analyze, and record include additions, disposals, and depreciation both from a financial statement and tax perspective.  A four-year accounting degree and two years of experience is preferred. Excellent communication and Microsoft Office application skills are required.

RD Offutt Farms Co. consists of farming operations across the upper Midwest in North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin. RD Offutt Farms Co. has a long history in the agricultural production industry and would like to add a team member to assist with its fixed asset accounting.

Job Duties Include

• Maintain schedules for the annual capital budget
• Record all fixed assets additions and disposals
• Review invoices for proper authorization and coding of additions and disposals
• Book monthly depreciation expense
• Supply monthly/quarterly depreciation schedules for other entities as needed
• Perform repair account review for capital items and other incorrect coding
• Maintain schedules for equity credit for farm managers
• Update service company equipment schedule constantly to tie to depreciation schedules and track movement of equipment from farm to farm
• Book monthly service company equipment charges
• Review Equipment use schedules periodically and send out to farm managers with service company equipment schedule to review
• Maintain vehicle licensing and titles
• File form 2290 (Heavy Use Tax) with the IRS for trucking fleet
• Be a self-starter; ability to work independently as well as with other personnel and management
• Represent self and company in a professional and positive manner
• Attend required company meetings and training and participate in constructive discussion
• Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook
• Conduct self in the presence of customers and community to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Company
• Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set
• Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 2 years of accounting experience preferred
• Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics software preferred
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
