Position Title: Marketing & Events Specialist

Position Summary
Do you have a passion for telling an organization’s story and creating engaging events? As an integral voice for Hope & Safety Alliance, the Marketing and Events Specialist will collaboratively communicate our vision with inspired messaging that adjusts across all aspects of the organization. As part of the development and outreach team, the Marketing and Events Specialist will creatively deliver and further develop Hope & Safety Alliance’s marketing strategy and events coordination.

Duties Include:
Events
Develop events from proposal to delivery, including:
Set, communicate, and maintain project timelines and priorities.
Manage events including venues, caterers, speakers etc.
Organize appropriate sponsorships.
Work with vendors to develop promotional material.
Maintain and update website content to promote events.
Manage invitations, sign up, guest lists.
Deliver events on time, within budget, that meet expectations.
Marketing
We’d like you to have an in-depth understanding of:
Digital and written marketing practices.
Traditional media, including radio, TV, print.
Experience with developing and managing external partnerships in the delivery of projects.
Demonstrable experience of running events from conception to completion.
Familiarity with using databases.
Demonstrable experience of initiative, self-sufficiency, and motivation.
Experience developing marketing strategies and identifying new areas of growth / income / exposure.
And the ability to:
Adapt your written and verbal communication style in order to connect with diverse audiences.
Organize and prioritize your own workload.
Self-lead with an ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Copywrite, edit, and tell a succinct story.
Find imaginative and practical solutions.
Engage and build effective relationships with staff, donors, and Board members.
Work within Microsoft office, adobe, and additional platforms.
Education and Experience Desired:
A branding, marketing or public relations degree and/or four years relevant experience in marketing and public relations is highly desired.
OR
Six or more years of professional experience in marketing and communications at a level that indicates the ability to perform the role outlined for the Marketing and Events Specialist.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated understanding of oppression as the root cause of abuse and violence.
Grounded in the principles of confidentiality.
Demonstrated sensitivity and understanding of the intersections of oppression and the barriers for domestic and sexual violence survivors.
Flexibility, and ability to focus in a fast-paced or remote working environment.
Demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of people from diverse communities.
Have skills in presentation, and communication (verbal and written), which includes public speaking to groups and individuals, with the use of simple language.

Background Check: The Department of Justice requires Hope & Safety Alliance to conduct a background check, fingerprint report, and a search of local and national sex offender registries based on each state of residency for the previous five years.

A domestic violence agency environment can potentially shift from stable to highly charged, and all employees must remain calm, creative, and flexible.
