Food Services Assistant jobs in Murfreesboro, TN

We are a private, year-round residential school for students with intellectual disabilities and autism located in Columbia, TN.

Position is full-time 33 hours/week. Food Services Assistants work in the school cafeteria preparing and serving meals. Schedule is 3 days a week with every other weekend off. Starting pay is $14/hr with a $1 shift differential for weekend shifts.

Minimum qualifications

• At least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED requried
• Valid Driver's license required
• Successful completion of pre-employment background screens (We can't hire anyone with felony convictions or abuse/assault convictions), drug screen, TB skin test and work physical.
• Be in good health and free of mental and/or physical limitations which would interfere in dealing appropriately with the client’s handicapping conditions and behavior disorders.
• Ability to kneel, bend and clean on knees; move furniture and lift items that weigh at least 40 lbs
• At least one year of training or experience working in a school or hospital cafeteria or equivalent experience preferred.
• At least one year of training or experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Essential Duties:

• Assisting with meal preparation including but not limited to use of proper food handling techniques, proper portions and scoops, timeliness of serving line and following set menus and guidelines.
• Possessing knowledge of proper food handling techniques.
• Ensuring cleanliness of kitchen and cafeteria before, during and after all meals including but not limited to washing dishes, utensils, equipment, tables, trays and other areas.
• Ability to follow a recipe and use standard kitchen equipment including food thermometers.
