Reporting to the Director of Imaging Services, the Assistant Director is a Certified and Registered Radiologic Technologist (CRT, ARRT), responsible for supervising daily operations of the Radiology support staff (front office and tech assistants) and imaging modalities, maintaining staffing, workflow, and performance improvement. He/she will participate in interviewing perspective employees, training and orienting new employees and when necessary participate in disciplinary actions. He/she will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating Imaging Services on a daily basis. He/she will be a team leader maximizing the skills within the group to reach a given objective. He/she will delegate responsibilites based on the abilities of staff members, organizational needs and priorities. As a role model, he/she will be a key player in the development of employees. He/she will evaluate employee performance thoroughly and objectively. He/she will help employees reach their potential by encouraging professional growth while identifying abilities and building on their interests. In the absence of the Imaging Services Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for the standards, staff, leadership, and decision-making. The Assistant Department Director fosters a supportive, professional environment of physicians, staff, and patients. Every employee of Imaging Services at Medical Center is expected to promote the mission and philosophy of the hospital by acting in a caring, courteous and confidential manner towards patients, visitors, colleagues, and staff by performing their duties and responsibilities according to the expected standards. Every sonographer or technologist of Imaging Services is expected to perform their duties and to accept the responsibility of the accuracy of their work as dictated in the professional standards for Registered Radiologic Technologists, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or Health Care Worker. Staff members will maintain confidentiality of all reports, maintain the integrity of identification of imaging exams/procedures and will perform designated tasks which will enable Imaging Services to comply with all regulatory standards of The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the California Department of Public Health.
