Food Services Director - Higher Ed. directs and oversees all aspects of institutional food service and resources. Develops and maintains food service policies for all dining halls. Being a Food Services Director - Higher Ed. manages work schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels and is responsible for purchasing supplies. May also plan and coordinate special theme events. Additionally, Food Services Director - Higher Ed. typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior institutional officer. The Food Services Director - Higher Ed. typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     UNIVERSAL OBLIGATIONS/EXPECTATIONS OF EACH STAFF MEMBER


    It is the expectation of the District that each staff member will: (1) put the safety, health and well-being of students at the forefront of all actions, job responsibilities and decisions, and (2) undertake all duties in alignment with the District’s Strategic Plan.



    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


    Assists in the daily operation of the District’s food services program with team members 


    Take a Safe Serv course and certification in the areas of food preparation and sanitation.

    Assists food services director in prepping food for salad bar along with setting up salad bar and soup station daily


    during lunch service.


    Taking down the salad bar ensures the food product is clearly labeled and dated when placed into the cooler.


    Cleaning duties include cleaning salad bar after lunch service, clean front kitchen after lunch service and assists with

     

    putting away clean dishes from the dish pit and daily laundry of towels and aprons.


    Attend periodic meetings with food service personnel..


    Serve Soup and Yogurt to students during lunch.


    Complete daily production sheets


    Attend any other relevant trainings

    Only minimum duties are listed.  Other functions may be required as given or assigned.


    DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


    • Experience in food services and/or nutrition.. Highschool Diploma or equivalent GED diploma 
    • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating and procedures manuals. 
    • Ability to effectively communicate with staff members and students
    • Ability to handle stressful situations.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
    • Ability to comply with Board policies, rules and regulations, and directives.  

     

    EQUIPMENT USED:


     computer, commercial oven, commercial dishwasher, and other commercial kitchen equipment. 


    WORK ENVIRONMENT:


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.  The employee is often required to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. 


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for longer periods and to walk.  The employee must be able to bend or twist at the neck and waist and be able to reach above the head.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position may require the employee to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


    MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS:


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work.  The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another).  Guidance and reinforcement are infrequently available.  The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity.  The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require oral and written communications.
