Job Summary:
Monticello High School is looking for a highly qualified candidate to fulfill a Dean of Students role at MHS. This person will work very closely with HS Administration, School Counselors, and School Social Workers to support and promote student success. The ability to work alongside staff and students in the problem solving process to support growth, relationships, and accountability will be very important. The Dean will administer building level programs, assist administration in discipline, and participate in supervision of students and student activities.
The Duties of the Dean of Students will include:
- Day to day student conflict resolution and discipline
- Assist with redevelopment of alternative pathways to graduation
- Proactive work with equity and culturally responsive methods to engage students and families of color
- Facilitate all testing, building-wide
- Leadership of school-wide safety protocols
- Monitor school hallways and cafeterias
- Other duties as assigned both inside the High School and within the District
Licensure and Experience:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching License
- Administrator License preferred, current participation in Admin program accepted
- Experience and training with CLR (Culturally Linguistically Responsive) methods (or similar) required
- Experience leading a program or group toward a common goal preferred
Essential Skills Required:
- Strong leadership and time management skills required
- Effective teaming skills, willingness to be flexible and excellent attendance
- Passionate about working with high school students
- Skilled in instructional technologies and communication tools
- Effective decision making skills while acting within the district policies, procedures and guidelines
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community, and staff
- Coordination of student activities, and participation and supervision of building events.
- Maintain confidentiality of information about students, families and staff
- Experience working with diverse students and families
