This individual will be a part of an integral team that works to deliver statewide programs to support the Program mission of helping communities develop sustainable programs that provide Texans with healthy trees and forests. The Program Coordinator for UCF Partnership will provide leadership to municipalities, non-profits, planning groups and other community forestry stakeholders across the state. This position will help coordinate statewide programs that support enhancing community tree cover to optimize associated benefits and contribute to the quality of life for residents. Occasional duties include training and response activities associated with the emergency response mission of the agency and support for additional agency programs. Responsibilities: -Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners. -Track and report program accomplishments to state and federal authorities and create new systems and procedures for accomplishing activities. -Design and develop dedicated funding projects in consultation with division administrative and program leaders. -Develop reports and related products as necessary. -Explore and expand the use of new technology and integrate as necessary into agency programs, including urban tree canopy assessments, GIS visualization, tree inventories, etc. -Collaborate with administrative and field staff to ensure effective delivery of urban initiatives. Work Conditions: This job may require exposure to harsh environmental conditions such as wind, sunlight, rain and temperature extremes. It may also require walking long distances, standing for extended periods, twisting, bending, reaching, kneeling lifting and carrying heavy objects. Job stress can be frequent when confronted with deadlines of various projects, frequent travel, long hours and adverse weather conditions. Education and Experience: Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or other natural resource field (environmental science, ecology or other relevant biological sciences). Preferred Education: Master's degree in Forestry Required Experience: Four (4) or more years of experience in land management, natural resources, conservation, community forestry or arboriculture. Preferred Experience: Two (2) or more years of experience in urban & community or municipal forestry, project management and administration. Experience with grant writing. Two (2) or more years experience with delivery of agency community forestry programs or equivalent experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required Knowledge: MS Office. GIS. Preferred Knowledge: iTree software. ArcPro. Forest inventory software. Tree City USA and other Arbor Day Foundation programs. Required Skills: Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, both with technical and non-technical audiences. Sound judgement. Highly organized and detail oriented. Required Abilities: Work effectively with minimal supervision. Self-motivated. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others, including internal and external partners. Preferred Abilities: Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills. Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses: Required: Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. ISA Certified Arborist or ability to acquire certification within one year. Preferred: SAF Certified Forester.
