As a Grounds Maintenance Technician at Forest Home Cemetery, your role will be vital in maintaining the serene and respectful environment of our grounds. You will be responsible for various tasks including grave digging, event setup, landscaping, and equipment maintenance. Your attention to detail in groundskeeping, commitment to safety, and careful operation of maintenance equipment are essential. Landscape Maintenance: This involves the upkeep of plants, trees, and shrubs, including mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, watering, and fertilizing.

Funeral Assistance: Handling caskets, setting vaults, and backfilling graves with respect and care.
Furniture and Equipment Handling: Setting up and removing event-related items efficiently.
Safely Operate and Maintenance Upkeep of Vehicles and Equipment: Performing regular cleaning and upkeep tasks. Assisting in the repair and upkeep of cemetery tools and equipment. Operating all equipment responsibly to prevent property damage.
Groundskeeping: Engaging in landscaping, lawn care, and building maintenance.
Operation of Equipment: Safely using various machinery for grounds maintenance.
Memorial and Marker Installation/repairs: Placing memorials and markers with dignity. Continued efforts in maintaining and repairing the cemetery’s features.
Cleaning and Minor Repairs: Undertaking facility cleaning and minor repair tasks.
Adherence to Safety Standards: Following safety regulations and compliance protocols.
Additional Assigned Duties: Performing other tasks to uphold the cemetery's respectful atmosphere.
Event Setup, Preparation, and Clean-Up: Assisting in setting up tents, canopies, and arranging chairs for special events. Maintaining cleanliness and order before and after events.
Requirements
Required
Physical Capabilities: The role requires performing physically demanding tasks and working in various weather conditions. Physical activities include but not limit to kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Use of hand tools or small machinery with necessary safety gear is also part of the job.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
Attention to Detail: Precision and attention to detail, ensuring all aspects of the grounds are impeccably maintained.

Drivers License: Licensed ability to operate a vehicle.
Preferred
Experience in Grounds Maintenance: 1-3 years groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field with experience in a supervisory role.
Cemetery-Specific Experience: Experience servicing cemetery operations, understanding burial processes, and monument maintenance.
Landscaping and Horticultural Knowledge: Knowledge of plant care, landscape design, and environmental management practices.
Equipment Proficiency: Familiarity with groundskeeping equipment, from lawn mowers to irrigation systems and burial equipment.
