Foundation Director directs the execution of the vision, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, and grantmaking operations that support the overall objectives of a foundation. Defines the goals and tactics for fundraising campaigns and program initiatives. Being a Foundation Director represents the foundation to the public and media to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments. Maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, grantees, community leaders, donors, and prospective donors. Additionally, Foundation Director oversees grantmaking operations, including developing grant guidelines, reviewing grant applications, and managing the grant evaluation process. Manages foundation programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and values. Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the foundation's grantmaking and programs. Ensures all foundation activities comply with applicable laws, reporting requirements, and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Foundation Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Foundation Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Part Time: 3 days/week

    Compensation: $40/hr - $43/hr; or $50,000 - $54,000/annually (prorated from $83,000 - $89,000/ annual full-time equivalent salary)


    Position Summary


    The Regional Development Director will spearhead the growth of a vibrant community of supporters in Western Massachusetts. You are a mission-driven, relationship and results-oriented entrepreneurial professional with a growth mindset seeking to join our growing development team. You take joy in closing gifts and in expanding a robust network of donors and partners across Western MA. You will collaborate across the organization with all teams, the dynamic Development Committee, and external stakeholders.

    We support a national ReEnvisioning Foster Care movement. This work elevates lived-experience leaders and includes a national conference and podcast. Treehouse crafted the blueprint for community living that helps kids thrive. We build affordable housing that brings three generations together. Children excel in an entire neighborhood dedicated to their well-being. Older adults find new purpose as “honorary grandparents.” Each generation invests in each other with the support of on-site staff and programming. Our first neighborhood opened in Easthampton, MA in 2006. A second site in Boston is underway and national expansion plans are in development. 


    The Regional Development Director will be responsible the following:


    • Achieve ambitious fundraising goals from a wide range of funding sources: individuals, foundations, corporations, and public funders. 
    • Provide input and execute on a comprehensive organizational annual fundraising plan to meet fundraising and community engagement goals for Western MA.
    • Lead strategic fundraising from prospect research to closing gifts and building sustainable partnerships. 
    • Create touch points with foundation funders to establish contacts, promote an understanding of Treehouse’s programs and initiative,  and oversee grant writing and grant implementation for all regional initiatives.
    • Collaborate with the Development Committee to assist with fundraising and donor appreciation events.
    • Provide input on the production of development-related communications and build a robust and active social media presence and regional promotion.
    • Plan and execute raising Treehouse visibility across the region.
    • Organize signature regional fundraising and appreciation events and support the national ReEnvisioning Conference.
    • Represent Treehouse as key regional ambassador at external functions to promote awareness, cultivate new donors, and build stronger relationships with key stakeholders. 
    • Prepare and present regular reports on progress towards fundraising goals, update information in donor databases, and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.

    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, board members, and key stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.
    • Strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to identify challenges and opportunities and develop creative solutions to meet fundraising goals.
    • Eager to learn new systems that foster team productivity and collaboration.
    • Demonstrated growth mindset.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • 5-7 years relevant experience
    • Understanding of the regional philanthropic market
    • People with lived experience in foster care are encouraged to apply
    • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification a plus, but not required

    Benefits & Compensation

    This is a part-time, 24 hour per week exempt hourly position. The annual pay range is $50,000 - $54,000, prorated from an annual full-time salary of $83,000, commensurate with experience. This position is hybrid, with 1 day on-site in our Easthampton, Massachusetts, office, and 2 days remote per week. Occasional travel to Boston, Massachusetts and occasional evening and weekend hours for events required. 

    We offer a best in class paid time off package including 12 paid holidays, 3 weeks of vacation plus the last week of December off, and generous sick time and personal time. The position includes a generous benefits package of health, dental, vision, life, short-term and long-term disability insurances, and simple IRA retirement plan with 2% employer contribution. We offer flexible schedules and start and end times where possible.
