Rate - $21.67 plus $0.60 shift differential
$1000 Sign on bonus
Training in all phases of core-making, manual and automated in order to become capable of performing the whole job.
Activities include placing boxes on the conveyors, preparing jobs for fill, operating sand mixer, oven and muller. Fill boxes and ram if required. Operate compaction table and strike off excess sand. Place bottom boards or plates as needed. Operate rollover and conveyor stations. Finish by pulling vanes or loose pieces and smoothing rough edges. Wash and dry jobs as required. Paste and assemble core sections as required. Perform other core-making practices. Assist in preparation and ramming of large jobs for floor and index line. Preparation for fill may include placing and securing chills, sleeves, sprue, cut and place tile, cut and bend rods, ventex, lifting hooks, mix specialty sands, occasionally.
Requirements
COMPLEXITY AND JUDGMENT
Routine and repetitive operations in making simple cores and molds. Refer all questions to supervisor.
EDUCATION
Able to understand and follow instructions. Normal high school education or equivalent or comparable brief shop training.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) to six (6) months’ relevant experience.
INITIATIVE
Normal initiative required in performing repetitive operations.
Problems are referred to supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mostly light lifting with some occasional moderate to heavy lifting. Moderately heavy job moving patterns and related equipment. Works in standing position; at times requires frequent lifting and handling of medium to large castings. Chain hoists available for lifting heavy work. Some heavy lifting, push/pulling on occasion. Heavy physical effort in hand ramming of sand is also required. Some work must be performed in an awkward position.
Employees working in this position are required to frequently walk or hear. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Some conditions are extremely noisy with exposure to dust, heat, and some fumes. Some exposure to outside weather conditions. Clean and well-ventilated Foundry area.
Working in the foundry environment is subject to temperatures of heat and cold depending on the season. Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, and eye protection.
