    Job Summary

    The Corporate Fraud Team Lead reports to the Corporate Fraud Manager and is responsible for reviewing fraud alerts by analyzing customer account activity, executing unusual activity reporting to WAFD's BSA/AML/OFAC team, assisting with escalated transaction decisioning from the Fraud Investigators and Analysts and escalating to the Corporate Fraud Manager when needed. Each department member may have an emphasis in one or more specific areas of service, however, will be cross trained in multiple functional areas. Along with the key functions listed below, each position will be expected to uphold the value that WaFd Bank places on simply being kind when servicing our co-workers and clients. KEY FUNCTIONS:
    • Review various Bank system reports for potentially fraudulent, unusual, or suspicious activity
    • Research customer account activity to determine potential fraud related to multiple channels (ACH, Cards, Checks, Online Banking, Physical Security, Wires, etc)
    • Independently review and evaluate reports of fraudulent activity and suspected fraudulent activity from customers, employees, other internal departments, and/or the BSA/AML department
    • Conduct Quality Control
    • Assist in developing training program and conduct annual fraud awareness training to applicable employees
    • Assist in training and provide coaching to Fraud team members
    • Report on the fraud metrics for the Bank by analyzing fraud trends (including all channels: in-branch, paper check, electronic, and cyber)
    • Assist with the Bank's recovery methods and/or processes
    • Supports the mission, strategy and values of WaFd Bank
    • This position is responsible for a set of well-defined and documented tasks and responsibilities.
    • Make decisions with supervisory review
    • Make decisions for complex cases/alerts with update to supervisor
    • Additional responsibilities as required

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
    • Bank Security schools, Bank Security/Fraud Training Programs, and/or Bank Security/Fraud Examiner certification(s) preferred
    • 2 to 4 years fraud related alert or investigative experience
    • Strong working knowledge of banking operations
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be detailed oriented
    • Excellent organizational and time/project management skills
    • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office products
    • Proven ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate fraud threats and trends effectively and apply information to current fraud monitoring processes for adequacy or necessary improvements
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as accomplish work assignments under minimal supervision and tight schedules
    • Ability to recommend cost-effective approaches to integrate technology into the workplace to improve or streamline processes, when appropriate
