    Key Requirements

    • Must be a U.S. citizen
    • Must be able to obtain an SCI clearance
    • Must be able to pass a US Government physical exam
    • Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver’s license
    • Must be proficient in the use of a firearm and various other weapon system
    • Some travel may be required
    • Selectee will be required to complete form FD-887, Request for Access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
    • Successful completion of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center may be required (FLETC)

    Major Duties:

    • Responsible for directing police force operation at the command duty location assigned to in order to provide maximum law enforcement security.
    • Through the use of other supervisory positions, direct and coordinate the police force within the assigned area. Assign work to Police Officers based on selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of the assignments and the particular capabilities of the officers.
    • Ensures the protection of life, property, and civil rights of the individuals, both employees and visitors.
    • Through subordinates, identify developmental training needs of employees, providing and arranging for needed development and training. Utilizing the recommendations of subordinates determine ways to increase the level of police service provided.
    • Conduct and/or oversee research fact finding on issues/questions which arise in the planning and implementation of new programs or projects. Develop procedures or alternative measures to address potential problem situations.

    Specialized Experience (SE):

    GS-12: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

    • Experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property.
    • Experience applying laws and exercising considerable discretion and judgment to investigate situations and conditions involving serious criminal actions.
    • Supervisor experience in Law Enforcement which demonstrates providing advice, counsel, and instructions to subordinates on both work and administrative matters.
