Fundraising Director directs an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Leads donor stewardship and relations to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Fundraising Director researches and identifies potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Creates collaborative coordination between staff and internal stakeholders to plan events and communications to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Fundraising Director uses technology to manage and monitor donor information and produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Fundraising Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Fundraising Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     SUMMARY
    Under the supervision and direction of the Chief Development Officer, administers the direct response fundraising program for St. Labre, utilizing current and emerging direct response fundraising strategies, techniques and channels to acquire new donors; retain and cultivate current donors; and reactivate lapsed donors in order to meet revenue goals.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Performs the following duties personally or through subordinates. * Indicates the non-essential duties and responsibilities.     • Actively contributes to the overall strategic fundraising plan to meet current and future needs of the organization.
    • Along with the Chief Development Officer, creates strategy and develops tactics for all facets of the direct response program, which includes but not limited to direct mail, telemarketing, digital and media, and mobile texting programs. Target audiences include acquisition, house renewal and lapsed donors. mailings.
    • Responsible for all daily aspects of extensive, ongoing, direct response marketing programs, including development and maintaining the master mailing/communications plan for donor acquisition, retention, and re-activation fundraising campaigns.
    • Collaborates with senior management, development & other staff, vendors and consultants to generate promotion concepts and test ideas using knowledge of fundraising copy techniques, postage treatment, database segmentation and direct response campaign designs.
    • Prepares and manages annual direct response budgets, including all direct mail and digital/media cost centers and the direct response admin budget. This involves determining mail quantities for each campaign consistent with organizational and departmental strategic plans, obtaining competitive bids to apply costs and analyzing historical results to determine revenue projections.
    • Ensures donor interactions build donor loyalty, including making sure that donors are properly thanked and fulfillment premiums are sent out in a timely manner.
    • Monitors and tracks direct response campaign results and makes tactical and strategic changes as needed based upon analysis of campaign performance and macro-environmental changes.
    • Regularly monitors the health of the overall donor base, analyzing each donor category and segment, using the necessary reporting tools and metrics.
    • Contributes and collaborates with Chief Development Officers on the business rules for the management, rental and exchange of the donor file.
    • Develops and modifies standard operating procedures and processes within the direct response departments as needed.
    • Schedules, organizes and facilitates regular meetings with peers, subordinate staff and vendors.
    • Ensures that proper photographic and other images are obtained on a regular basis and maintained. This also includes obtaining required permission/authorization for use in promotional/campaign materials or digital/media.
    • Ensures all direct response fundraising data including campaign results and costs and correspondence/conversations with donors is recorded in the database timely and accurately.
    • Works closely and collaboratively with the Database Support Manager, Online Fundraising Coordinator, Chief Development Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director.
    • Periodic travel to conferences for professional development and continuing education, as well as vendor site visits.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Manages and supervises five direct reports, including two subordinate supervisors who manage and supervise a total of 30-35 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsible for training and mentoring employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications with non-profit experience preferred, or 2 years of experience in direct response marketing or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
