Gas Supply Manager manages the supply and purchase of natural gas to meet company needs. Negotiates contracts with approved sources to maintain adequate supply and ensure favorable terms. Being a Gas Supply Manager forecasts change in prices in order to maintain company fuel investments. Coordinates proper transportation and storage of gas supplies. Additionally, Gas Supply Manager maintains business relationships with suppliers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Gas Supply Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Gas Supply Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Description:

    What You Will Do

    Perform construction and maintenance operating work related to a pipeline system.

    Perform pipeline construction, installation, maintenance and removal work on transmission and distribution pipelines.

    Load, unload, and operate tools and equipment including:

    • Pipe and crescent wrenches
    • Pipe cutters and threaders
    • Hammers and screwdrivers
    • Picks, shovels, and rakes
    • Air compressors and generators
    • Plastic fusion irons
    • Jackhammers and concrete saws
    • Booms and chains
    • Air compressors and generators
    • Mini and large backhoe
    • Combustible Gas Indicators
    • Tapping equipment
    • No blow equipment
    • Forklift
    • Respirators
    • Oxygen analyzer

    Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment including:

    • Fueling truck and checking fluid levels
    • Applying lubricants
    • Changing oil and filters
    • Cleaning/adjusting tools

    Investigate customer related orders and emergency situations including:

    • Low Pressure calls
    • Class 1 Leaks
    • Blowing lines
    • Fires/explosions
    • Undetectable lines

    Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

    Employee may perform additional duties as assigned.

    What You Will Need

    Knowledge of use, function and maintenance of manual tools and equipment applicable to the position.

    Knowledge of application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested).

    Knowledge of construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution pipeline systems.

    Working knowledge and training relative to:

    • Working in excavations and confined spaces
    • Basic customer service activities
    • Company and governmental operating/safety procedures
    • Fusing plastic pipe
    • Characteristics of natural gas

    Knowledge in basic computer functions and relevant software.

    Understanding of how to read and interpret maps, atlas pages, blueprints, and job orders.

    Read and write fluently in English.

    Applicable driver's license.

    Qualified Plastic Fusion Technician certification.

    Applicable Operator Qualifications.

    CDL preferred. To be obtained in the first 6 months.

    Lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds 10 15 times a day; up to 40 pounds 7 10 times a day; over 50 pounds 5 6 times a day.

    Climb into and out of excavations.

    Travel over uneven terrain including:

    • Mud
    • Gravel
    • Sand
    • Rocks
    • Ice
    • Snow

    React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.

    Smell odorant in natural gas.

    Detect and react to warning signals at work sites.

    Operate tools and equipment required.

    Communicate and exchange information and instructions including use of company two way radio and company cell phones.

    Peripheral vision and accurate depth perception.

    Visual abilities to perform job duties.
