General Maintenance Worker maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs on buildings and equipment. Performs a variety of semiskilled duties in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, or plastering. Being a General Maintenance Worker assists maintenance engineers and other workers with their tasks. Complies with established safety guidelines and procedures. Additionally, General Maintenance Worker may require a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The General Maintenance Worker works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and a strong emphasis on carpentry. The work will involve a variety of the following duties: installing or repairing ceiling grid, hanging doors and/or installing or repairing door locks and door closures and other general work assignments. All duties must be performed within the specified safety regulations of the company and the position. May perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to lift up to 75lbs, walking and standing for extended periods of time, bending, pushing, pulling; some climbing and balancing may be needed. Significant hand and finger dexterity required. Environment, while generally hazard free, may include some exposure to dust and varying temperatures.
