Genetics Counselor jobs in Florida
Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice. Genetics Counselor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Job SummaryThe Genetics Counselor Assistant will provide support to the genetic counselors and department in day-to- day activities, such as case preparations, processing genetic testing documentation, relevant genetic research projects and data collection, as well as, working closely with various laboratories, insurance companies and internal departments.
Required Qualifications- Require a Bachelor's degree in biological, genetics, or health science or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications- Prefer knowledge of genetics and genetic concepts.
- Prefer demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and other commonly used applications.
- Prefer knowledge of family history, pedigree and genetic health risks.
