Geologist researches the formation, dissolution, and content of rock layers. Researches the effects of internal pressures, heat, water, pollution, and erosion. Being a Geologist studies variations in rock formations and densities to identify new mineral deposits. Estimates depth, quality and vastness of deposits. Additionally, Geologist tests mineral quality and purity to determine feasibility of mining. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.     Job Description

    AES is looking for Geologists with experience in the minerals and energy exploration industry. We offer a range of positions that will challenge and interest applicants. Career paths at AES lead to positions as field geologists, project managers, operations and logistics coordinators, and many other field and office supportive positions.

    Major Duties to Include:

    • Drill rig supervision, core & chip logging
    • Geotechnical logging and sampling of drill core
    • Reporting to onsite supervisor and AES management
    • Sampling soil, rock, stream sediments
    • Geologic mapping of rock units, structures, alteration, etc.
    • Data collection and input

    Requirements:

    • Enthusiasm and a pro-active attitude
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively with others in remote locations
    • Experience in wilderness settings

    Season:

    • Mid-April through September (exact dates to be determined)
    • Will work on multiple projects within state of Alaska
