    Job Description

    As a Staff Geologist at Bunnell Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE), your primary responsibility is to prepare and review reports and proposals related to groundwater compliance and document the performance of field services. Approximately eighty (80%) percent of work will be office-based reporting directly to project engineers and geologists. Up to an average of twenty (20%) percent field time is expected. Duties include but are not limited to:


    Daily Functions and Duties

    • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals, including preparing maps, tables, and figures.
    • Conduct and/or manage environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting.
    • Review and perform statistical analysis of analytical lab data.
    • Assist in preparing and developing Alternative Source Demonstrations (ASD), Assessment of Corrective Measures (ACM), and Correction Action Plans (CAP)
    • Prepare geologic maps and cross-sections including, but not limited to groundwater elevation maps and top of bedrock maps.
    • Assisting with the development of project proposals and reports
    • Observe and document the installation of groundwater monitoring wells and methane monitoring probes either individually or as part of a team.
    • Log and classify rock core such as limestone, granite, gneiss, etc. consistent with Valley and Ridge, Blue Ridge, and Piedmont geology.
    • Sample groundwater, surface water, soil sediment.
    • Maintain clear and concise field logs documenting field-related activities.
    • Calibrating and maintaining field instrumentation and maintaining QA/QC data sheets and field logs.
    • Assisting with the development and distribution of field notes, meeting minutes, project action items lists, internal tracking of project activities, and general project coordination activities in support of project managers.
    • Assisting in the field interpretation of project design and drawing and technical specifications and communicating findings with project engineers and geologists.
    • Communicate and interact with clients.

    Minimum Job Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other science related field. Will also consider a commensurate combination of education and experience.
    • 0-3 years of experience in environmental consulting;
    • Ability to gain professional licensure within 5 years or less;
    • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks concurrently with varying scopes of work and time constraints.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving, scientific evaluation skills, and understanding of field and laboratory analytical analysis and results.
    • Ability to travel consistently, including overnight and multi-day stays, throughout the Southeastern United States (Up to 20% per year).
    • Able to stand/walk for long periods of time; work on unpaved surfaces, in outdoor environments (extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, and high wind environments). You will be getting dirty and playing in the mud from time to time!
    • MUST be able to work productively with other staff, at all levels, in a team environment.
    • MUST be efficient, productive, self-motivated, and able to work unsupervised for extended periods of time.
    • Proficient with MS Office suite, primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other science related field.
    • Experience with contaminant transport hydrogeology preferred.
