Being a Geologist studies variations in rock formations and densities to identify new mineral deposits. Estimates depth, quality and vastness of deposits. Additionally, Geologist tests mineral quality and purity to determine feasibility of mining. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.     Overview

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    VHB's South Burlington, VT office is seeking an Environmental Scientist, Geologist, or Environmental Engineer to join our team starting in Summer 2024!

    Responsibilities

      Field data collection (soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil gas sampling)
    • Observe and document drilling activities (soil borings and monitoring well installation)
    • Observe and document site construction/remediation activities for environmental compliance
    • Leveraging technology to support data management and visualization
    • Conduct site assessments
    • Assist with writing technical reports, correspondence, notes and memoranda

    Skills and Attributes

    • Ability to work in field and office settings
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Motivated and ability to problem solve and work independently

    Qualifications

    • 0-1 year of engineering or environmental consulting experience, whether through coursework or professional experience
    • BS in Geology, Environmental Scientist, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering (MS preferred)
    • Experience with fieldwork preferred.
    • Internship experience & EIT preferred
    • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required after 30 days of employment.
