Geologist researches the formation, dissolution, and content of rock layers. Researches the effects of internal pressures, heat, water, pollution, and erosion. Being a Geologist studies variations in rock formations and densities to identify new mineral deposits. Estimates depth, quality and vastness of deposits. Additionally, Geologist tests mineral quality and purity to determine feasibility of mining. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Staff Geologist collaborates with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists, project managers, and other staff to provide a wide range of observation, testing services, data analysis/organization, documentation, and technical report preparation on a wide range of projects related to environmental services, site remediation, and brownfields redevelopment. Collaboration, effective communication with all stakeholders along with the ability to pro-actively recognize issues, develop solutions and seek guidance will be key to success in this role.
