    Position: Geologist
    Location: Trona, CA

    Job Summary:
    The Geologist plays a pivotal role in the exploration and development of subsurface mineral reserves and water supplies, with a focus on maximizing growth, productivity, and sustainability. This role involves employing advanced scientific, geologic, and engineering techniques to conduct analytical tasks such as interpreting complex hydrogeologic settings, understanding geochemical interactions, and facilitating solution mining of ore bodies while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

    Key Accountabilities:

    1. Production and Optimization:
      • Produce required raw materials, including saline brine, brackish water, and potable water, to meet production targets.
      • Manage the well field to achieve optimal and sustainable well yield and flow.
      • Conduct studies on stratigraphic controls and structural elements, integrating geological data to develop ore bodies effectively.
      • Perform mineral resource evaluation, core analysis, and geochemical assessments for subsurface exploration and development.
      • Support drilling and testing projects, and provide technical support for well performance projections.
    2. Resource Management and Sustainability:
      • Collect and analyze soil, brine, and mineral samples to define the nature and extent of saline deposits.
      • Support mineral reserve evaluation through interpretation and creation of various geological models and maps.
      • Update ore reserve estimates and develop long-term strategic plans for mineral resource optimization.
      • Assist in the exploration and development of ore bodies while ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
    3. Field Operations:
      • Analyze geological data and provide recommendations and cost estimates for senior management consideration.
      • Stay updated with new technologies and develop innovative approaches related to drilling processes.
      • Liaise with various operational areas to ensure the delivery of quality geological information.
    4. Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) Compliance:
      • Adhere to SSHE policies, procedures, and regulations, actively participating in maintaining a safe work environment.
      • Understand and mitigate SSHE hazards and risks in the work area.
      • Provide information during SSHE audits as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Mining Engineering, or related field with at least four years of relevant experience; Master's degree is a plus.
    • Broad knowledge of chemistry and hydrology preferred.
    • Proficiency in computer modeling and analysis.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience-based judgment.
    • Working knowledge of drilling, subsurface exploration, and engineering techniques.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent analytical, verbal, writing, and presentation skills.
    • Project management experience and familiarity with EPA and BLM regulations are advantageous.

    Physical Demands:

    • Normal or correctable vision and hearing, with manual dexterity.
    • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.

    Work Environment:

    • Mix of office and field work, with exposure to outdoor conditions and occasional risk factors such as moving mechanical parts and toxic chemicals.
