Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process
• Analyze current methods of manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements 
• Develop alternative methods of making manufacturing practices more efficient and cost effective 
• Design and develop new products and product mock-ups alongside the marketing team
• Prepares component drawings to support manufacturing 
• Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor and material costs, reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements 
• Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying and testing manufacturing methods and equipment
• Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods along with setting standards and confirming manufacturing processes 
• Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout
• Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaboration and cohesion
• Liaison with a team of craftspeople, machine operators, supervisors and product developers to ensure everyone is contributing to the common goal 
• Work to provide solutions to leadership when presented with manufacturing concerns 
• Ensure manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations
• Continue to develop professional expertise and proficiencies by periodically participating in classes, conferences and other developmental opportunities 

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering field or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with Camworks or similar preferred

Requirements

• CNC mill/lathe programming experience 
• Proficiency with Solidworks or similar software
