    THE OPPORTUNITY

    This position will specialize in our soil stabilization products. The professional engineer will consult with road construction customers in-office and on-site, working alongside the sales team at times, providing an in-depth technical overview of the product and its application. You will also work alongside the operations team to standardize, document, train, and conduct product testing. Extensive travel to remote and rural parts of the country is part of the position to provide on-site analysis and consultation services on behalf of Substrata.


    THE SKILL SET

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil, geological, or environmental engineering (required)
    • Experience: Ideal candidate will have at least 10 to 15 years of experience in civil – geotechnical engineering, with direct involvement in soil analysis and testing best practices
    • Certifications/Licenses: Professional Engineering (PE) licensure
    • Experience working out in the field
    • Advanced data collection and recording techniques
    • Observing and documenting field activities related to the construction process
    • Up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations
    • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
    • Sampling, testing, and inspecting soils and aggregates
    • Performing calculations and data reduction of test results
    • Using field testing equipment and documenting readings
    • Reading maps, following directions, and interpreting engineering and construction plans
    • Interacting and communicating daily with contractors, technicians, and project manager
    • Determining and/or performing appropriate laboratory tests
    • Attending project meetings and assisting in project resolutions
    • Assisting with the preparation and presentation of sales proposals
    • Assisting with scheduling, training, and oversight of Field Engineers.


    WITHIN 1 MONTH YOU’LL:

    • Assist on Sales calls as the technical expert
    • Site quality analysis and quality verifications


    WITHIN 3 MONTHS YOU’LL:

    • Build lab/testing soil standards
    • Perform geotechnical studies, field tests, analysis, and design
    • Write, review, and oversee research papers, articles, and publications
    • Write technical documentation, process and procedures for Substrata and industry wide.


    WITHIN 6 MONTHS YOU’LL:

    • Work with standards organizations such as DOTs & DOD
    • Provide expert engineering advice and recommendations for construction projects
    • Built and grow Engineering department by hiring and training as the demand grows
