Being a GIS Supervisor ensures proper maintenance, documentation, and cleaning of GIS data. Develops methods to leverage GIS data for new applications. Additionally, GIS Supervisor typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The GIS Supervisor manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a GIS Supervisor typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Your Opportunity

    Responsible for providing GIS services to external and/or internal clients in a shared services environment. Requires application of developed technical knowledge to determine client needs and proposes optimal GIS solutions to meet business needs. Work is limited in scope, requiring sound application of established codes, standards and guidelines. Work is assigned for developing skills such as client service and building productive working relationships.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Uses geospatial data to complete tasks using knowledge of Geographical Information Systems
    • Assists team in preparing aerial and mapping exhibits
    • Inputs data into relevant software programs
    • Monitors own work and that of the team to ensure budgets and schedules are being met
    • Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions
    • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

    Qualifications

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    • Working knowledge of GIS Platforms, HEC-RAS, Inovyze, AutoCAD and ESRI software suite including ArcGIS
    • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team

    Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in GIS or related field & Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 2 years of experience.

    Position will work in both a field and office setting.

    Incumbents are expected to travel 10% of the time; trips may include one or multiple overnight stays.
