May require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Glazier may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Glazier relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and drawings to determine the layout and installation procedures
- Measure, cut, and shape glass according to specifications
- Install glass in windows, doors, skylights, storefronts, and other structures
- Secure glass panes with putty, screws, or other fasteners
- Fabricate metal frames for glass installation
- Install weatherstripping and sealants to ensure proper insulation and weatherproofing
- Repair or replace damaged glass or frames
- Cut, assemble, and install mirrors and mirrored surfaces
- Install and repair glass in vehicles
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a glazier or similar role
- Proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation
- Strong knowledge of various types of glass and their applications
- Skilled in using hand tools and power tools relevant to the trade
- Familiarity with construction materials and techniques
- Ability to measure accurately and work with precision
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor and work at heights
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
