We produce metal castings for grinding media, mill liners, crushing liners, and slag pots with optimal designs and alloys specifically developed for the global mining, aggregate, and recycle industries. ABOUT THE ROLE . . .
The Global Planning / Logistic Specialist will plan large sized mining equipment item orders with the suppliers, follow suppliers’ capacity situations and create best logistic options for the orders. The Planning / Logistic Specialist serves as a critical link between operations, procurement, quality, and the field sales organization by taking proactive action to provide on-going visibility of shipping and delivery status and resolving any issues causing delays. This is a multi-disciplined position involving purchasing, planning, logistical, communications, and semi-technical skills. The Planning / Logistic Specialist will provide cost estimates for the logistic, place direct orders with outside logistic vendors, track and expedite orders, work with the buyer allocate manufacturing work to the optimal suppliers and best possible packing / logistic option. This position will interact with both internal and external customers. It requires strong understanding of the diverse customer base, as well as their products and processes. An effective communication style and awareness of the organization’s business climate is essential. A sense of urgency and strong problem-solving skills are critical.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Contact logistic vendors, manage quotes, place logistic orders, coordinate change orders, verify supplies, manage supply requisition, communicate with suppliers to determine expected delivery dates, and inform internal stakeholders of any potential delays.
- Follow the logistic price levels and global trends, try to create savings from logistic with the best possible transport solution.
- Assess and evaluate processes/suppliers and make suggestions on how to continuously improve efficiency for best possible packing and logistic solution.
- Represent the company’s image in the highest possible regard by ensuring timely communications with all internal and external customers, also suppliers.
- Support and work closely with the sales, marketing, technical and administrative teams to ensure workflows are completed on time.
- Be responsible for on time deliveries , expediting the suppliers & local teams with the buyer.
- Managing contract phases (payment terms, lead-times) and executing pay-back management for logistics
- Limited Travel (both domestic and international) may be required as needed
- Performs other miscellaneous duties and/or other special projects as required.
- Support the buyer in the procurement process.
- Work with the supplier packing and design initiatives to minimize the landed cost.
- Be a critical part of ME Supply Chain team to execute the projects and orders at the suppliers.
- Support the sourcing initiatives and new supplier, product development activities.
EXPERIENCE WE NEED FROM YOU . . .
- Four-year degree in business, engineering, supply chain or related fields are preferable — or the equivalent in training and experience.
- A minimum of three years of work experience in an industrial environment is desirable.
- Experience in direct purchasing, customer service, logistic, planning and /or sales support, with the ability to work closely with internal and external customers.
- The fortitude and experience to work in a fast-paced office environment with a sense of urgency.
- Experience with computer systems such as SAP (ERP) and Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- The ability to work with a wide range of individuals from different countries and cultures, such as China and Chile, in a team-based environment.
- The commitment and dedication to producing a high-quality product and excellent customer experience.
- To have basic knowledge about technical drawings and heavy industry experience is a plus.
