Golf Superintendent is responsible for overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides) to ensure quality playing conditions. Oversees continued development of golf course during golf season to improve playing conditions and maintenance of course during off-season. Being a Golf Superintendent manage purchasing, replenishment, and inventory of all materials, supplies, and equipment used to maintain golf course. Liaises with the Head Golf Professional on any issues related to golf course operations and maintenance. Additionally, Golf Superintendent typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a golf course general manager. The Golf Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Golf Superintendent typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. · Maintain and manage the golf ambassador program which includes:
o Maintain the schedule, working with Management to make sure staffed according to needs of the golf course
o Hire and train ambassador staff according to rules of golf course and management
o Maintain golf cart repair log and course maintenance logs, such as divots and ball marks
o Work hand and hand with AGM on tournaments
o Maintain overall appearance of golf shop and inventory
o Maintain consistency with tee sheet operations with all staff
o Make recommendations to Management on new products and potential sales of current products
· Maintain a professional attitude towards Members, Guest and Staff:
o Handle all complaints in a professional manner
o Make recommendations for events, tournaments, and membership types to better the overall operation of the golf course
o Work with member groups to keep communication on events at the golf course
§ Group players pools are accepted, but individual betting with members, guest, specifically non PGA players is strictly forbidden
o All other duties apply
· Requirements:
o Participate and complete the PGA Playing ability test by September 2025
§ Completing and qualifying under the minimum qualifying score by September 2024
§ Once admitted into the PGA play in a minimum of 1 APA event annually.
§ Work a minimum of 5.5 days during season April – October
§ Work a minimum of 5 day during the off season.
