Government Sales Manager manages and directs a sales force to achieve sales to government agencies. Designs and recommends sales programs and sets short- and long-term sales strategies. Being a Government Sales Manager evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase the department's sales volume. May recommend product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential. Additionally, Government Sales Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to sales team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to head of a unit/department. The Government Sales Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Government Sales Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     General Statement of Duties

    Plans, and organizes the operations of Polk County’s Health & Human Services Agency Division of Public Health Services in accordance with the policies and procedures adopted by the Health & Human Services Agency Board and associated committees.

    Distinguishing Features of the Position

    This position is responsible for the coordination and supervision of all population health programs, activities and staff at centers. Incumbents are expected to provide leadership and training to both staff and volunteers, to actively participate in program planning and development and to supervise the day-to-day operations and activities. The position is responsible for monitoring the division’s budget and expenses, as well as monitoring the physical/environmental standards of the facilities. This position requires experience in fundraising, grant experience, and government expenditures/reimbursement. This position reports to the HHSA director and will be required to submit regular reports and maintain accurate records. This position typically directly supervises the Public Health Nurse, WIC Supervisor, Senior Services Coordinator, and Environmental Health Supervisor. The position is also responsible for preparedness, community health services, and accreditation.

    Minimum Requirements and Experience

    v BS Human Services, Nursing or Public Health, Administration, and (3) three years of health and human services experience planning and managing programs and staff; or

    v MA/MS in administration, nursing, public health discipline, education, healthcare or other closely related field from an accredited institution with (1) one year of health and human services experience planning and managing programs and staff.

    v One to three years of health and human services experience planning and managing programs and staff, depending on education level.

    v Successful pre-employment drug screen.

    v Successful criminal Background check.

    Preferred

    v Experience in community service work in the human service field, education, public health, or healthcare.

    v Experience with direct client coaching/support/counseling.

    v Experience working with non-profits and government organizations.

    v Working knowledge of Polk County and/or Western North Carolina.

    v Grant Experience, development and/or implementation.

    Physical Requirements

    The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, driving, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
