Grants Administrator administers the financial control processes of grant activity throughout the grant lifecycle for awarded or received grants to ensure compliance with grant provisions, regulations, standards, timelines, and reporting requirements. Monitors grantee management and disbursement of funds and reviews grantee programs for compliance with the terms of grants. Being a Grants Administrator prepares and submits financial reporting and performs accounting tasks related to managing grant funding received. Tracks and reconciles grant account budgets and expenses. Additionally, Grants Administrator submits any additional information or documentation required by the grant funder. Follows grant accounting best practices and complies with legal regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The primary purpose of this position is to efficiently and timely draft, review, negotiate, and resolve disputes and other contract administration issues involving OSP Agreements. This position also includes administrative responsibilities for the Office of Sponsored Programs. GCO1 – GCO2 will have various levels of administrative responsibilities. The position is hybrid-eligible.
Grants and Contracts Officer 1: Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute to a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision-making. This level is typically focused on self-development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.
Grants and Contracts Officer 2: Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry-level professionals and/or support employees.

Functions primary to GCO1: The Grants & Contracts Officer 1 manages the University acceptance process for OSP Agreements. This requires daily written and verbal communications with numerous internal and external parties to ensure the timely and accurate review, negotiation, and acceptance of these agreements. Manages department software, the electronic agreement routing system, and OSP’s electronic signature process for all agreements; monitors information systems for data quality assurance; and provides customer service to numerous campus users.
