    Job Summary
    The Grants Management Specialist is responsible for the management of assigned federal and no-federal grants within the college and the development of methods and means to ensure new funding opportunities are available for proposed programs. This position manages and oversees the college’s two major educational grants and maintains accurate grant records. The Grants Managment Specialist reports directly to the Dean of the College.

    Essential Job Duties
    • Administration of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Centers of Excellence (COE) Grant including grant budgets, grant objectives, progress reports, development of instruments for collection of data to assess grant accomplishments, and renewal applications
    • Work collaboratively with COE subgroup personnel to ensure activities and strategies on the COE grant are met
    • Oversee the management of the HBGI Title Ill grant by working collaboratively with the staff for the administrative support and implementation
    • Identify new funding resources and draft proposals/grants and other contracts to assist with the financial sustainability of the college
    • Establish new grant management systems and develop policies, procedures and long-range planning related to grant and contract activities for the college as needed
    • Collaborate with University Research and Sponsored Programs offices to inform the college’s faculty about applicable grant opportunities and eligibilities
    • Serve as the liaison personnel between the College and the University Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) regarding grants and contracts
    • Provide guidance through fiscal and regulatory guidelines to grant recipients (PIs) from the beginning to the end of the grant period
    • Support and facilitates pre- and post-award sponsored activities throughout the project life cycle from funding identification to close-out
    • Draf and update institutional letters of commitment and capabilities statements, as well as gathering other supporting materials relevant to proposals
    • Prepare and maintain digital and physical records and files related to TUCVM grants and contracts, ensuring accessibility and accuracy for reporting purposes
    • Prepare and maintain grant reporting and close out schedules and provide support to ensure institutional and funding agency reporting requirements are met
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the dean

    Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field
    • 1-3 years of experience with grants, contracts or financial management and preparation of reports

    Physical Demands
    • Ability to operate standard office equipment
    • Ability to walk short distances
    • Ability to prepare and analyzing data and figures
    • Ability to view a computer terminal; extensive reading

    Skills and Attributes
    Knowledge of:
    Federal, state, and private sources for contract and grant funds and familiarity with or able to master Grants.gov or other finding agency websites

    Ability to:
    • Communicate effectively and efficiently to meet demanding deadlines
    • Interpret and apply related college and university policies, procedures, principles, and practices
