    Position Summary:


    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Grants Specialist.

    In this role, the successful candidate under general supervision, administers and facilitates of the grant preparation and submission process for the department. Advises and assists department head with grant process and compliance issues related to funding agency regulations and standards; ensures adherence to administrative, fiscal, and accounting policies and procedures related to grant proposals .

    Job Responsibilities:

           Performs miscellaneousjob-related duties as assigned.

           Oversees thepreparation of scientific-related grant proposals, to include guidance andassistance in budget preparation and interpretation of funding agencyregulations and requirements; reviews proposals for compliance with policies,regulations,procedures, and facilitates documentation requirements.

           Analyzes and reviewsgrant budgets for compliance with policies, funding agency requirements, andappropriate accounting protocol and procedures; advises and assists researchersand administrators in grant budgeting, and/or cost sharing requirements, andthe use of associated data management and reporting systems and processes.Guides basic science and clinical investigators through the process of grantspreparation, working with grants finance personnel in preparing budgets,just-in-time materials, and subcontracts/consortium materials.

           Develops and maintainsspecialized databases and systems for recording and tracking grant proposals,awards, and related statistical information; creates and distributes standardand special reports, studies, summaries, and analyses, as required. Maintainupdated file of materials such as electronic submission forms, bio-sketches,resources, and equipment information.

           Collaborate with theSchool ofMedicine's Sponsored Programs Administration office as well as withprogram officers at the NIH (National Institutes of Health) and other fundingagencies, and providing updated information on requests for applications from theNIH as well as society and foundational grants. May provide advice and guidanceto researchers and/or administrators with program planning and priorities inorder to meet the requirements of the grant.

           Provides advice andguidance to researchers and administrators on the application of grant fundingpolicies, regulations, and procedures; serves as liaison between the departmentand funding agencies on various issues pertaining to proposals, awards, and/orbudgets.

           Guides and facilitatesthe research of funding opportunities for the activities of the department;maintains data on funding sources and a library of agency policies,procedures,. and documentation.

           Maintains currency ofknowledge of grant funding policies, regulations, and procedures; disseminatesand/or presents changes to departments and advises on the implementation andimpact of changes on funded operations.

           May provide advice andguidance to researchers and/or administrators with program planning andpriorities in order to meet the requirements of the grant.May assist with thepublication and dissemination of information on the grant in keeping withguidelines from the granting agency.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree; minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in a research or an academic environment. Must include experience with scientific grants preparation. Position also requires knowledge and skills in the following areas: Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, federal and School regulations. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of restricted fund accounting principles, procedures, and standards. Skill in the use of personal computers and software applications including database management skills. Knowledge of federal, state and/or community funding sources and mechanisms.Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections. Ability to provide technical advice and information to staff. Knowledge of current developments/trends in grant proposals.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    BS Degree

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,400.00 - $90,100.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
