    SUMMARY OF DUTIES

    As directed by the Grants Director, the Grant Writer is responsible for supporting the grants team with the following:

    1. Reviewing funding opportunities to work collaboratively with the grants team and RFP team to develop proposal plans.
    2. Prepares talking points as needed for proposal outline.
    3. Develops proposal program/project work flow and logic model with Island Directors and designated staff in preparation for proposal.
    4. Drafts, reviews and edits/rewrites proposal narratives and supporting documents and coordinates with RFP team to ensure accuracy, readability, and consistency.
    5. Works with Grants team on editing proposals and related documents for completeness and compliance with funding requirements/formatting/composition.
    6. Builds compliance matrix ensuring proposal meets solicitation/funding requirements.
    7. Conducts research for data (including statistical data) relating to programs and funding opportunities and maintaining a database/library information.

    The Grant Writer supports the grants team in all aspects of the grant writing process. This requires a high level of communication and coordination skills to manage multiple grants simultaneously. Requires a high level of accuracy and time management. The Grant Writer must be able to offer a flexible work schedule that may include some evenings and weekends to ensure deadlines are not missed.


    EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

    • Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. Requires basic knowledge or training in a specialized or technical field or trade, such as social work, English, marketing, contract management, professional accounting, finance, business administration, and marketing.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Over two years, up to and including four years.

    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Knowledge of public and private request for proposals and proposal writing.
    • Strong organizational, multitasking, time management skills.
    • Excellent writing skills, strong ability to summarize data concisely.
    • Ability to work with limited supervision and high motivation.
    • Good reasoning abilities, sound judgment, and resourceful.
    • Ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
    • Communications - Knowledge of effective ways to work with others via written, oral communication.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with utmost integrity.
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends and periodic long hours to complete tasks to meet timelines is a must.

    OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
