    • Hours: Monday-Friday, other evenings and weekends as needed
    • Location: This is a hybrid, in-person/work-from-home, position based at our administrative office (13207 NE Halsey St. Portland, OR)
    • Pay Rate: Depending on Experience

    THE MARKETING TEAM

    The Marketing Department at Portland Rescue Mission is a group of dedicated professionals using their marketing skills to raise provision for life-restoring Christian ministry by excellence in fund raising and brand enhancement through direct mail, digital, social media, tele/radio-thons, media relations, and advertising support for Portland Rescue Mission's social enterprises. Our goal is to tell the stories of what God is doing in the lives of the people we serve with integrity and excellence. In doing this, we honor the lives of those we serve and share their testimony in a way that invites others into partnership with PRM through service, prayer, and financial support.

    THE POSITION

    The Digital Graphic Design Specialist is a hands-on contributor to the storytelling efforts of Portland Rescue Mission through excellent content creation for our digital platforms (e.g. email, website, display advertising, brand campaigns, infographics, and social media) and occasionally for our print assets. The scope of responsibility ranges from strategic digital design creation and implementation to print production and vendor relations with a mindset of continuous improvement in aesthetic storytelling across all Portland Rescue Mission marketing platforms.  

    THE ESSENTIALS

    • Strategically produce and implement well-crafted design elements from concept to execution for various uses: websites, email templates, newsletters, social media campaigns, brand campaigns, photography, tele/radio-thons, and print so that Portland Rescue Mission supporters will be encouraged, educated, and motivated
    • Combine graphic creativity with digital functionality to produce eye-catching, informative content to enhance the user experience appropriate to the demographic and platform so that individuals, businesses, and churches in our community will encounter powerful stories of changed lives and community betterment and be inspired to partner with the work of Portland Rescue Mission
    • Strategically and effectively tell the Portland Rescue Mission narrative of Giving Hope and Restoring Life via on-brand creative solutions that align to the technical and creative standards of Portland Rescue Mission
    • Provide creative input as part of the Marketing Department to improve overall performance in Portland Rescue Mission’s marketing related efforts  
    • Strategize, create, implement, and manage different stages of design from concept to final deliverable(s) for Portland Rescue Mission’s digital platforms and print products     
    • Seek ongoing training or enrichment opportunities surrounding digital platform design (email, web, and social media) strategies to help the Mission stay on the cutting edge of effective marketing  
    • Assist Video Specialist with video shoots, including running audio, cameras, and setting up lighting, as needed  
    • Create print media and manage the production process (including vendor supervision), as needed 
    • Archive, maintain, and manage photo library and digital design library 
    • Assist in general Marketing Department projects including events, promotions, and activities 
    • Serve a minimum of two hours per week in a direct ministry role at one of Portland Rescue Mission’s locations by providing compassionate care to the people served 
    • Engage guests and program participants with Christian care, including offering prayer and scripturally based encouragement during interactions as opportunity allows

    BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior, a testimony of continued growth in faith, and spiritual maturity as defined by traditional biblical standards 
    • Adherence to Portland Rescue Mission's Statement of Faith and Code of Ethics 
    • Embrace the Portland Rescue Mission ministry culture of being a Highly Relational, Christ-centered, Joyful Servant 
    • Desire to serve God in a ministry to hurting men, women, and children
    • College degree in related field or experience equivalent
    • Professional-level graphic design skills with an emphasis on email marketing, website and social media – SAMPLES REQUIRED 
    • Strong knowledge of website and social media trends and strategies with the ability to implement visually compelling creative (such as social media reels and posts as well as website pages and lightboxes) to increase engagement with the end user
    • Highly proficient in industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite—Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Rush, InDesign, Lightroom, and Adobe Express, etc.)  
    • Strong proficiency in software such as;  Basecamp, Dropbox, WordPress and other digital media platforms  
    • Able to assist with photography
    • Photo manipulation
    • Knowledge of color theory and color techniques
    • Ability to utilize typography to enhance overall design
    • Understanding of print production processes and experience producing pre-press files 
    • Illustration skills/story boarding a plus
    • Motion graphics abilities a plus
    • Basic video production knowledge or willing to learn
    • Excellent grammatical, oral, and written communication skills
    • Genuine acceptance of constructive feedback with a “can do” attitude 
    • Experience in Microsoft Office software 
    • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted

    • Copier, printers and related office equipment 
    • Multiple design and internet-based software, programs and apps (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite—Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, etc.)
    • Ipad with Apple pen
    • DSLR camera with multiple lenses
    • Camera light kit and external flash
