Graphic Design Specialist jobs in New Bedford, MA

The Payroll Specialist will process and manage the weekly payroll function for the two separate divisions of the company (Ecotone and Wilkinson Ecological Design). Their main function is to ensure personnel receive the correct compensation in a timely manner. The Payroll Specialist must be familiar with calculating prevailing wages in multiple states (including MD and PA) and with completing the accompanying compliance reporting. The Payroll Specialist will interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization and will be entrusted with sensitive information.

Location(s):

• The Payroll Specialist may report out of either the Hanover, MA or Orleans, MA office. However, they will be expected to be onsite at Orleans, MA and Forest Hills, MD office during the orientation and training period as a new employee.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Collect information on hours worked for each employee
• Update payroll records for accurate tracking of voluntary/involuntary deductions, tax withholdings, direct deposit data, and garnishments
• Maintain integrity of employee payroll files including hourly rates, salaries, compensation benefit rates, new hire information etc.
• Calculate the correct pay incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses etc. with assistance of a computer system
• Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
• Receive approval from upper management for payments when needed
• Administer statements of payment to personnel either electronically or on paper
• Generate reports for processing taxes and payment of employee benefits to vendors
• Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors
• Prepare reports for upper management, finance department etc.

Qualifications

• 3 years proven experience as payroll processor/specialist
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices to ensure compliance with federal and state laws
• Proficient in MS Office and in-depth knowledge of Sage CRE, Complete Payroll Solutions (CPS), HH2 and Centrally HR payroll systems
• Knowledge of prevailing wage calculations and compliance reporting
• Experience with multi-state payroll and payroll taxes
• Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
• Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Aptitude for problem solving
• Associates degree in business/accounting preferred or 2 years of work related experience. BS/BA in business, accounting or relevant field is a plus
• Authorized to work in the United States
