Job Summary

The Graphic Design Specialist at the University of Utah’s University Advancement department will play a crucial role in elevating the visual identity of the institution’s philanthropic initiatives. This role involves creating captivating, on-brand designs for a variety of mediums, including direct mail appeals, online ads, social media graphics, email campaigns, signage, website banners, and other promotional materials. The successful candidate will be a creative and detail-oriented student passionate about contributing to the visual representation of the university’s advancement efforts.

Responsibilities

• Produce visually compelling designs for direct mail appeals, online advertisements, social media graphics, email campaigns, signage, website banners, and other promotional materials.
• Ensure that all designs align with and reinforce the university’s established brand guidelines.

• Collaborate with members of the University Advancement team to understand project objectives, target audiences, and key messaging.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather input and incorporate feedback into design iterations.

• Create design assets to support various campaigns, including Giving Day appeals, fundraising initiatives, and other university advancement events.
• Develop signage, ads, and graphics that effectively communicate campaign messages and goals.

• Prepare designs for both digital and print production, ensuring specifications are met for each medium.

• Uphold and reinforce the university’s brand identity across all design materials.

• Source and edit images for use in various design projects.
• Collaborate with photographers and content creators as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Utah, preference for students pursuing a degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
• Proficient in graphic design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva.
• Strong design portfolio showcasing creativity and a keen eye for detail.
• Knowledge of design principles, typography, and branding.
